Queenslanders on steep blocks
Red Hill is full of timber Queenslanders and workers' cottages, many perched on steep blocks with long front stairs or perched above the street. Some sit below road level, so getting things in and out takes careful planning.
Some of Brisbane's steepest streets
Narrow, steep streets and tight turns are common here, and parking is often on one side only. We often use one of our smaller trucks so it fits the street, and add crew to keep carries short. Walkboards and hydraulic lifts help on a slope. For most moves here, we recommend one of our smaller trucks. They're easier to park in tight streets and loading zones, and they still carry a walkboard or hydraulic platform lift. See our trucks and equipment.
Ithaca heritage
Red Hill was part of the old Ithaca area, and heritage-listed spots include the Ithaca embankment walls, houses on Cairns and Enoggera Terraces and buildings on Musgrave Road. Ithaca Pool and the Red Hill shops on Musgrave Road and Waterworks Road are well-known local spots. Because many homes sit right on the slope, a lot of furniture has to go up or down stairs. We bring straps, trolleys and enough crew to do it safely.
