Apartment towers and heritage conversions
Most Valley moves are in or out of apartment buildings, from newer towers to older commercial buildings converted into flats. Many have a basement car park with a low clearance, a booked loading bay and a lift that needs padding before use.
Busy streets and loading zones
Ann Street, Wickham Street and Brunswick Street carry heavy traffic, and much of the kerb space is clearways, bus stops or timed loading zones. We'll plan where the truck can legally stop. For most moves here, we recommend one of our smaller trucks. They're easier to park in tight streets and loading zones, and they still carry a walkboard or hydraulic platform lift. Heritage and the river edge
The Valley has a long list of heritage-listed buildings, from the All Hallows' School buildings and the former Fortitude Valley Post Office on Ann Street to Howard Smith Wharves under the Story Bridge. Many now hold apartments or offices, with access through rear lanes or service entries. If yours has one, tell us, as it's often the safest way to load.
Close to our Eagle Farm depot
Our Eagle Farm depot is about 10 minutes' drive from Fortitude Valley, using Ann Street, Wickham Street, the Inner City Bypass and the Story Bridge. We also move people in nearby New Farm, Newstead, Teneriffe. Use the depot finder to see which depot is closest to both ends of your move.
Moving tips for Fortitude Valley
- Skip Friday and Saturday nights. Mall and Brunswick Street crowds make evening access slow. Daytime moves run far better.
- Check basement heights. Many Valley car parks won't take a full-height truck, so tell us the clearance if you know it.
