Why we charge by the hour
No two moves are the same. How much is packed, how far the truck parks from the door and how many stairs there are all change how long a move takes. An hourly rate means you pay for the time your move really uses, not an allowance for what might go wrong. We can't tell you the final bill before the job finishes, but we will tell you exactly how it's worked out.
What's in your hourly rate
Your clear written quote sets out, in words:
- The team and truck for your move, and the rate for that crew and truck. Our quoted rates include GST.
- The minimum: hourly moves are charged in 15-minute increments after the quoted minimum.
- The equipment our trucks carry: furniture pads, blankets, tie-downs and trolleys.
- Travel: the journey from the selected depot to your pickup and back after delivery.
- What can be extra: heavy lifts, tolls and materials such as cartons or plastic covers may attract extra charges, as set out in your quote.
How travel time works
Travel covers the journey from our depot to your pickup address and back after delivery. We have five depots at Eagle Farm, Stafford, Bulimba, Mt Gravatt and Indooroopilly, so there's usually one close to you. Google Maps estimates help us plan, but traffic and conditions on the day can affect the actual time. Your quote names the depot used. See how depot travel time works.
You're in control of your move
The biggest things that decide your hours are in your hands:
- How much you pack beforehand. Everything boxed, sealed and labelled loads far faster than loose items.
- What's ready and dismantled. Beds, desks and tables taken apart before we arrive save crew time.
- Access and parking. A parking spot near the door, a booked lift and clear paths make every trip shorter.
- When you want us to finish. Tell us if you only need the big furniture moved and you'll take the boxes yourself, or if you want us to stop at a set time.
Tips to keep your hours down
- Give us an accurate inventory so the right size team and truck turn up. The move calculator helps.
- Pack and label every box, with the room written on top. Our Box Shop has cartons, paper and tape, with free delivery on orders over $200.
- Group boxes near the door, on the ground floor or in the garage if you can.
- Dismantle beds and furniture and keep screws taped to each piece.
- Book the lift and loading dock at both addresses, and reserve parking for the truck.
- Empty drawers and wardrobes of loose, heavy items, and defrost the fridge the day before.
- Tell us about heavy or awkward items up front, so the right crew comes the first time.
- Have the new place ready: keys collected, rooms labelled and someone to direct the crew.
- Pick a good start time. Avoiding peak hour can shorten travel.
Insurance and payment
Our transit insurance has a $1,000 customer excess and policy exclusions, set out in our terms. Invoices are issued on moving day for the time used and are payable in full when issued, unless another arrangement has been agreed with our office. You can pay by debit or credit card, bank transfer or cash.
Why we don't publish a price list
Every move is different, and the right team and truck depend on your inventory and access. A clear written quote with the hourly rate for your move is more useful than a number on a web page. For small jobs, see small moves.
How booking works
Every move starts with a clear written quote. You'll receive a booking confirmation email when you book, and a reminder 48 hours before your move. Tap Confirm My Move in that email, or let us know about any changes.
