Village streets and ferry traffic
Oxford Street is busy, especially on weekends, and the streets around it are narrow, with parking on both sides. As Bulimba is a peninsula, there are only a few roads in and out, so timing matters. For most homes here, we send one of our larger trucks, fitted with a walkboard, a hydraulic platform lift or both, so bigger households can move in one trip. See our trucks and equipment.
Oxford Street and the former barracks
Oxford Street runs from the ferry terminal up through the village, with heritage-listed buildings at 49 and 90 Bulimba Street and on Apollo Road. The former Bulimba Barracks on the riverfront is being redeveloped into a new riverside community with homes, apartments and parkland. That will bring new apartment buildings, along with construction traffic, to the area. We'll check current access and roadworks before your move.
Close to our Bulimba depot
Our Bulimba depot is just minutes from Bulimba, using Oxford Street, Riding Road, Wynnum Road and Lytton Road. We also move people in nearby Hawthorne, Balmoral, Morningside. Use the depot finder to see which depot is closest to both ends of your move.
Moving tips for Bulimba
- Avoid weekend Oxford Street. Saturday mornings are the busiest time for the village.
- Plan around peninsula traffic. Riding Road and Wynnum Road can back up in peak hour.
