Moving in Yeronga
Yeronga's housing is a genuine mix. At the 2021 Census just under half of homes were separate houses, about a third were flats or apartments and nearly one in five were townhouses or semis. Many older homes are high-set timber houses with front stairs, while the unit blocks tend to be low-rise walk-ups. The suburb also has a flood history: the 1974 and 2011 floods damaged many properties near the river and in low-lying streets, and in those floods Hyde Road was cut and Kadumba Street, which runs along a ridge, became the main way into the western side. Stairs, walk-ups and the right size truck
For a house move we'll usually bring a larger truck and park as close to the front stairs as the street allows. For a walk-up unit or a townhouse complex with a narrow internal driveway, a smaller truck is often the better fit. Our trucks have a walkboard (ramp), a hydraulic platform lift, or both, and we'll plan the carry so heavy items come down the stairs safely and go into the truck in the right order.
