Moving in St Lucia
St Lucia has two quite different sides. The flatter northern area is mostly medium- to high-density living, including high-rise apartments on the riverfront, while the hillier centre and south are mostly family homes. At the 2021 Census about six in ten homes were flats or apartments and more than half of all homes were rented. Many residents are UQ students and staff, so moves pick up around semester changes and lease ends, when lifts, loading bays and street parking near campus are in high demand.
Small trucks near campus, bigger trucks for family homes
For student units and apartment blocks, a smaller truck is usually the right call. It fits tight streets and loading zones, and it's easier to position near a building entrance. Family homes on the southern hills often suit a larger truck, especially for a full house of furniture. Every truck carries a walkboard (ramp), a hydraulic platform lift, or both, which helps with heavy items on sloping blocks. Tell us about stairs, lifts and parking at both ends when you ask for your quote.
