Interwar homes on hillside blocks
Much of Norman Park was built up between the wars, so you'll find plenty of timber Queenslanders and workers' cottages, many raised on stumps with front stairs, plus newer townhouses and small unit blocks. Hillside blocks often mean steps between the street and the front door, so tell us about them when you book and we'll plan the carry.
Flood history and the creek flats
Norman Creek flooded much of the suburb in 1893 and again in 1974, which is why many older homes are raised and why the earliest settlers chose the higher ground. If you're moving into a low-lying street, ask us about timing around heavy rain. For most homes here, we send one of our larger trucks, fitted with a walkboard, a hydraulic platform lift or both, so bigger households can move in one trip. See our trucks and equipment.
A heritage station with a tramway past
Norman Park railway station on Waite Street opened in 1911 when the Cleveland line was duplicated. Its timber station building and footbridge are heritage listed. From 1912 to 1926 it was also the junction for the Belmont Tramway, a steam tram run by the old Belmont Shire.
